REFUGEES * Danish Refugee Council- Danish NGO founded in 1956 that specializes in providing protection, food, vaccinations, shelter, and several other integral components of life for refugee and displaced people’s communities in over 30 countries.* * International Rescue Committee (IRC)- Organization active for over 80 years, providing education, healthcare, and safety, and establishing power and economic stability across the world in third-world countries and areas ravished by disaster.
WOMEN’S RIGHTS* * PATH- NGO focused on healthcare, founded in the 1970, that works to diagnose and distribute the medicine for a slew of diseases including but not limited to malaria, pneumonia, reproductive conditions, and several forms of cancer. * Zana Africa Foundation- NGO specializing in educating young women in East Africa through traditional and innovative methods, as well as providing pads, disassembling harmful cultural taboos, and publishing literature for teens.
CHILDREN’S RIGHTS * Children's Initiative Fund Foundation (CIFF)- Perhaps pronounced like “gif,” CIFF focuses on children’s immediate well-being, through programs combatting plights from child prostitution and malnutrition, as well as future well-being, through providing education and fighting climate change and infant mortality. * Zana Africa Foundation- NGO specializing in educating young women in East Africa through traditional and innovative methods, as well as providing pads, disassembling harmful cultural taboos, and publishing literature for teens. * The Ford Foundation- NGO founded by Henry Ford (yes, THAT Henry Ford,) that combats economic and social inequality through engineering, economic support, and kindling the imagination ALL in of the next generation and giving them the means to create.
HEALTHCARE * PATH- NGO focused on healthcare, founded in the 1970, that works to diagnose and distribute the medicine for a slew of diseases including but not limited to malaria, pneumonia, reproductive conditions, and several forms of cancer.* * International Rescue Committee (IRC)- Organization active for over 80 years, providing education, healthcare, and safety, and establishing power and economic stability across the world in third-world countries and areas ravished by disaster. * Partners in Health (PiH)- NGO active from Russia, to the Navajo Nation, to Haiti, to Sierra Leone, providing healthcare to those impoverished, combating cholera, TB, HIV, etc., as well as performing surgery, treating mental health, and more.* * Children's Initiative Fund Foundation (CIFF)- Perhaps pronounced like “gif,” CIFF focuses on children’s immediate well-being, through programs combatting plights from child prostitution and malnutrition, as well as future well-being, through providing education and fighting climate change and infant mortality* * APOPO- Fairly recent NGO that trains African Giant Pouched rats to sniff out landmines and TB. * eNABLE- recent American NGO that 3D prints durable, plastic, non-mechanical, prosthetic(esque) devices and distributes them gratis to areas of the world lacking high-level technology or with an abundance of amputees.
POVERTY * International Rescue Committee (IRC)- Organization active for over 80 years, providing education, healthcare, and safety, and establishing power and economic stability across the world in third-world countries and areas ravished by disaster. * Oxfam- Quaker and Oxford graduate -founded NGO that has worked since 1945 to alleviate poverty and hunger around the world by laying groundwork for long-term change. * The Ford Foundation- NGO founded by Henry Ford (yes, THAT Henry Ford,) that combats economic and social inequality through engineering, economic support, and kindling the imagination ALL in of the next generation and giving them the means to create.
SEVERAL * CARE- International NGO founded in 1945 that specializes in several fields from emergency response to poverty relief to women's rights. (It's so many I can't even categorize this one, but they do good work.) * William and Flora Hewlett Foundation- Philanthropic NGO that promotes education, the arts, and global social development.*
